Australian & NZ Defender magazine is a full colour, nationally distributed quarterly magazine dedicated to recording and preserving the military operations and activities of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.
Established in 1993, by founding editor John Hunter Farrell, Australian & NZ Defender magazine has travelled to every ADF and most NZDF operational areas to gather the photographic and editorial material required to keep our readers abreast of the latest news from the front.
While, A&NZD does its best to cover every aspect of the lives of our combat and combat services support personnel we specialise in Combat Operations, Exercises and Weaponry.
We are firm believers that if you talk the talk, you must walk the walk and all A&NZD contributors have experienced operations down range in the wide variety of combat, peace making, peace keeping and humanitarian relief operations.
Australian & NZ Defender is fully independent and does not seek nor will it accept funding from the Dept of Defence, political groups or major manufacturers of military hardware. Unlike our competitors we believe that remaining independent is vital in our mission of recording Anzac Military History as it occurs.
When the current operational tempo permits we also explore Australia and New Zealand's rich war fighting heritage with excellent photo histories and pictorially heavy features by those earlier Anzac's who made the legends after WW2.
Australian & NZ Defender is heavily pictorial with more than 200 new images in each issue. We don't pose our shots, nor do we try and politicise our subjects. Our first commandment to all our contributors is get outside the Hesco barriers and photograph the Diggers as they work - no posing, holding children's hands or other ephemeral 'PR' stunts. Just the truth as it happens.......
